Welcome to Strabo house - River Road, a place shaped by the timeless presence of the Fraser River and the generations who have called these shores home.
Long before modern roads, homes and neighbourhoods, these lands were part of the traditional territories of Indigenous peoples whose deep connection to the river, forests and surrounding wetlands stretches back thousands of years. Their knowledge, traditions and stewardship remain an important part of the living heritage of this place.
As guests here, we are grateful to experience this beautiful landscape on borrowed land, and we respectfully acknowledge the First Peoples who have cared for it across generations.
Over time, River Road and Sunbury grew into a diverse riverside community shaped by farmers, fishermen and families from many cultures. By the early 1900s, River Road was home to families from diverse backgrounds, including Japanese, Scandinavian and Finnish communities. Sunbury Public School was established in 1902 to serve the growing community.
Today, we invite you to slow down, enjoy the river, listen to nature, and appreciate the rich stories carried by this remarkable land.

"We had a great stay. The place was nice and clean when we arrived. The host had fresh fruit, eggs and croissants waiting for us which was a wonderful touch. We were granted a slightly early check in as well it was very nice. They aren't joking when they say the driveway is steep. It's best if you back your car in when parking. It didn't bother me at all. Would happily stay again.."

"I have recently spent 5 nights at Subrato place and my family and friends enjoyed it the whole time we were there. The place was spacious and well stocked with everything we needed and more. The host also provided some breakfast items ie. eggs, bread, butter, jam, milk and juice. If any thing was needed or concerns needed to address our host were available there to answer or rectify within reason. Overall I would recommend and I would stay again in the future if I'm in the area"

"My family and I had the best experience at Subrato's place. What a pleasant surprise to have a nice view of Fraser River and the bridge. The house sits on a steep slope but that did not deter our pleasant stay. There's a nice walking path that our pug was able to have a nice stroll with us overlooking the nice river view. The place has an open floor plan so everyone had a relaxing time. And oh the patio has a nice seating area with a forest view to greet you.We loved the small details like the welcome letter, cute toy for our grand daughter free drinks, fresh fruits in the fridge, croissants and bread for everyone to share. Our wholesome stay was topped off by how thoughtful our host was. My mom must've dropped her personalized pen by accident and Subrato messaged us right away and sent sent it to us in a jiff. I highly recommend staying with such a friendly and thoughtful host! Five stars all around. Thanks so much Subrato and Co."
"We had a wonderful vacation staying at Subroto's place! Our family of five (three adults and two kids) had a thoroughly comfortable stay. The house was spotlessly clean, and the bed linen and towels were fresh and cozy. Subroto was an exceptional host: generous, very accommodating, and quick to respond to any questions. The property is packed with all the necessities and much more, including central AC that kept us cool throughout our stay. The highlights were definitely the picturesque window featuring a beautiful view of the river and bridge, and the lovely deck set up in the lush, private backyard. The location is fantastic, close to great food and things to do.The unit was exceptionally well equipped with plenty of pots, pans, dishes, and coffee supplies. Having a washer, dryer, cleaning supplies, and a vacuum on hand was also super convenient, especially traveling with kids. We truly appreciated all the thoughtful touches and would happily stay here again!"
